Technically speaking, the Radeon R200 series cards which include the Radeon R9 280X, Radeon R9 270X, Radeon R7 260X, Radeon R7 250 and Radeon R7 240 are GCN rebrands with the addition of new features but rather than giving away the same cards at the same price ranges, AMD added a few new features which we will detail in this article and slashed the prices so much that the Tahiti chip that once was $549 can now be bought for $299 US.
The Volcanic Islands family is branded as the Radeon R200 series and takes performance and value to the next level.
